2010 offers promise for our area with the scheduled opening of the Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport off Hwy. 388 near Panama City Beach; the continued growth and expansion of Pier Park, an open-air, beachside, Mall; and relocation of one of Florida's largest landowners, St. Joe, to the West Bay area, to name a few bright spots on our horizon: all bringing visitors to the area that just might want a piece of our paradise, if only for a few days or a lifetime.  

Excitement about our new, regional airport can be baffling to some from larger. metropolitan areas:  Easy commute for vacationers to this area is a big plus.  The regional airport is the first to be built in the past 20 years.  Its location will invite easy commutes to resort destinations, provide competitive air travel rates and schedules, while spurring jobs and retail growth for Panama City Beach and its communities.  

The beach's new, Pier Park shopping mall, celebrated its premier opening Feb 14, 2008, and continues to celebrate new openings, offering events hosting, great shopping, and dining experiences, such as Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville, and an upscale movie theater, in walking distance of the world's most beautiful beaches!  Pier Park has developed into a popular, hot spot for tourists and its locals.  Teddy and Jenny Meeks' recent project of resurrecting the old Miracle Strip Carousel added a touch of nostalgia to Pier Park.  That "thrill" received a lot of support, and has now spurred the Meeks to reburshish and add to the Carousel, the old balloon ride and biplane ride, and add a replica of the 1975 Ferris wheel.
